Follow the Queen Rules
Rate This Article |
Follow the Queen plays like 7-Card Stud with wild card rules.
Wild Cards Queens are wild, and so are all cards matching the rank of a card dealt face-up immediately after a face-up queen. If another face-up queen is later dealt, the next face-up card replaces the non-queen wild card. If a queen is the last face-up card dealt, only queens are wild (i.e. any other wild cards are canceled).
Betting Structure
Players post an ante before each hand. The remaining betting consists of two rounds of small bets and three rounds of big bets. In a $2 / $4 game, the small bets are $2 and the big bets are $4. The ante is typically half the small bet or equal to the small bet in low-limit games.
Bets/raises are limited to four per round. For example, a player bets $2; he is raised another $2; he re-raises $2; another player re-raises $2. Now players can only call the 4th bet; no more raising is allowed on that betting round.
Deal Players are each dealt three cards - two face-down and one face-up. A round of betting occurs, following the standard poker betting rules (bet/raise/check/fold). The player who shows the lowest face-up card must open the betting with a compulsory bet of either half of the small bet or equal to the small bet.
Subsequent Deals and Betting Three rounds of dealing and betting take place.
On each of these three rounds, players receive another face-up card. A round of betting takes place, started by the player with the highest face-up hand.
The Final Round At the final round, players receive their seventh card face down, for a total of 3 face-down cards and 4 face-up cards.
Players now know their final hand (queens are wild as are cards matching the rank of the last card that was dealt after a face-up queen, if any).
There is a final round of betting. The highest hand wins the pot.
