Remembering Cards in Seven Card Stud
Rate This Article |
If you are just beginning seven-card stud, you are going to go nuts trying to remember everything that is out there. Actually, veterans of the game have this problem as well. Remembering exposed cards is one of the hardest things a stud player has to deal with.
Many have talked about different ways to remember cards and have tries different techniques. It’s not easy, but here is a trick I learned to remember cards that works well. This will help you in reading players and having a good idea of what they have. If there are seven other people in the game and you are trying to remember all of their cards, you are going to make the job much harder for you.
If five people fold on third street and there are just three people left in the hand, you don’t have to worry about your cards or the ones that are already out. These cards are still exposed and are there whenever you want to look at them. All you have to do is remember the cards that have been folded. This reduces the number of cards that you have to remember.
To remember these cards, just put them in sequential order. There is no need to remember who had what card because those players are out of the hand. If the five cards folded were 3, 8, K, 10 and 7, put them in the right order in your head. 3, 7, 8, 10, K (you can also go backward if you want). It will be easier to remember a sequence than five random cards.
As far as suit goes you don’t have to remember there were three spades, a heart and a club. Take into account all of the exposed cards and if three or more of that suit is out, it is less likely that anyone is going to be trying to get a flush in that suit.
What happens on the next street? Well, if one person drops out that adds more cards to the list you have to remember. You have to remember seven cards in total. Put those cards in your sequential order. This is a lot easier than trying to remember all 14 cards that have been exposed by now.
Now, that the situation is heads up. You never have to remember another card for the hand because the remaining cards will be exposed. You’re not likely to ever need to remember more than 10 cards. This makes the game a lot easier to play.
