A community / draw game where players receive 4 pocket cards and one card is used as a community card, which is in effect every player’s 5th card. This 5th card is known as the ‘spit’.

The Deal Players post an ante and then receive 4 cards from the dealer. The dealer then deals the ‘spit’ to the table.

Players bet, starting with the player to the dealer’s left.

The Draw Players now have the chance to discard as many of their cards as they wish. New cards are dealt to replace the discarded cards.

Showdown The remaining players show their hands. The best hand wins the pot.

Variations

Extra card – Players receive 5 cards instead of 4. The spit card makes 6 cards available to the players. Players must use 4 of their cards plus the spit to form their hand.

Wild Widow – The spit card, and any cards of the same rank, is wild.

2-tier betting – bets after the draw are double the amount of the pre-draw bets.�
