Tic Tac Toe Rules

Rate This Article

Players form a 5-card poker hand from two pocket cards and any three-card row from a grid of 3×3 community cards on the table.

Posts Players begin a game with 3 ‘posts’, equivalent to a set betting amount. Each hand is played for 1 post. Losing players put one of their three posts into a pot. After losing all three posts, a player leaves the game. This post pot is collected at the end by the only player has a post (or posts) left.

The StartAll players post three chips in front of them (posts). These act as markers—one is lost into a side pot every time a player loses a hand.

Each player is dealt two face-down cards.

Nine cards are dealt onto the table in a 3×3 grid (this is the ‘board’).

Players bet, starting with the player to the dealer’s left.

ShowdownPlayers announce their best hand which uses their two pocket cards plus any single row of three cards—vertical, horizontal, or diagonal—from the board.

All players must announce their hand. If a player has not seen a better possible hand, they still must stand by the hand they announced.

The player with the highest hand takes the pot, and all other players put one of their posts into the post pot. Any players who lose their last post are now out of the game.

RestartAll cards are discarded, and a new hand is dealt to all remaining players (the deck is not shuffled if enough cards remain to deal the hand).

A new hand is dealt and play repeats until only one player has posts left. That player wins the post pot and the game ends.
